Dubrovnik's old town is a complete walled city, and the two-kilometre circuit of its ramparts, the sea on one side, terracotta roofs on the other, is one of the great urban walks. Marble streets, baroque churches and a cable car to Mount Srđ fill the day; sea kayaks and the green Elaphiti islands wait just offshore.
