New York
Sail past the Statue of Liberty.
The most cinematic embarkation in cruising, Manhattan and Lady Liberty from the rail.
Few sail-aways match leaving New York: the ship slides down the Hudson past the Manhattan skyline and within a few hundred metres of the Statue of Liberty, usually at golden hour. As an embarkation port it is also the reason to spend days ashore first, the High Line, the museums, Brooklyn, the food. The departure alone is worth the fare.
