Morocco is the Mediterranean's most evocative cultural pivot, close to Europe, and a world away. Casablanca's Hassan II Mosque rises straight off the Atlantic, half of it built over the sea, and is the gateway for the long day-trip to Marrakech. Tangier, where two seas meet, is all medina lanes, mint tea and Europe in sight across the strait.
